Tried a café on Carrizal around nine. Ordered a flat white. Seventy pesos. She brought it in a cup that was too hot to hold. I waited. Drank it near the window. Not the one.
Walked down toward Santa Cruz and then followed the road east to La Entrega. Twenty minutes. The road curved around the bay. A few pangas pulled up on the sand. The cove was small. Water clear and green. A couple of palms at the edge. I sat on a rock near the water. A man was selling drinks from a cooler. I bought water. Twenty pesos. Sat for another hour. A family arrived and set up under the palms. Kids went in. I did not.
Walked back through the heat. Stopped at a taco stand near the mercado. Pescado, cabbage, lime. Thirty-five pesos. Ate standing. The woman at the grill did not look up.
Back to the room by one. Fan on. I lay down and read for a while. The book is almost done. I will finish it tomorrow or the next day.
Went out again around five. Walked the grid in La Crucecita. Bought a nieve from a cart on Bugambilia. Guanábana. Twenty pesos.
Back to the guesthouse by seven. The man at the desk was watching television. I paid for the room and went upstairs. The window is open. A moto outside. Someone cooking across the street.
